Two days till my birthday! I'm excited. We're going to Napa to do some wine tasting, then grilling steaks at home for dinner. Yum!

Writing? Nope. Hasn't happened. Taking pointless Air Force courses that are required and are supposed to make me a better leader? Yep. Been doing lots of those!

2 Sept 2016

Oh dear...I've been really bad about updating this website. Sometimes life gets crazy, but that's not really an excuse. Our blog has also fallen into the cracks, which is not good. Let me just say this: trying to be a writer whilst working a full time job is not exactly ideal. I was also recently diagnosed with sleep apnea, so now I know why I have felt so run-down and low energy. Getting used to a CPAP machine has been interesting, but I can tell it's helping. Baby steps.

My third book is still not done. This is a source of great frustration to me, but I'm trying to stay positive.

I've had some people review my books on Amazon, which I really appreciate! Please please please, if you read either of them, leave a review. Good or bad, I want your feedback!!!

19 March 2016

So...it's been awhile. My apologies. I have to admit, I've been struggling with writing. I got stuck with my third book and I've just let it sit, unable to muster the energy to do what is necessary to fix it. I read Stephen King's "On Writing" a month ago and finally started to feel like I could get back on the writing horse. Then I got really sick. I know, excuses, excuses. However, his book did show me that I'm going about my process incorrectly (at least for me). Part of why I got so stuck was because I was letting my husband read everything and then, as I stated in my September post, tear it apart. Not a good idea. I've decided what I need to do is just write the damn thing and not be so worried about what he or other people are going to think. Then, when it's finished, he can read it.

In other news, we adopted another dog! Her name is Biscuit and she and Bella are best buds. They are also treat thieves.

18 Oct 2015

All right! It's a weekend of updates. I just finished updating our blog, so check that out via the link on my home page. Pretty much everything is in there. Still have some copies of "Across the Sea". Want me to sign it and send it to you? Just drop me a note! Happy Halloween!

5 Sept 2015

Hi everyone! How was your summer? Mine was busy but fun. I've begun reworking my third novel. It needed some plot changes, according to my husband. He's a great guy to have around as far as editing goes. I like to write a few chapters and then let him tear them apart.

So let's see...we're going to Disneyland in a couple weeks! And then back to Yosemite in October. I'm super excited for both of those trips. Disneyland is just fun. You can't help but smile the whole time you're there. And Yosemite is epic.

I've got some paperback copies of "Across the Sea" hanging out at the house. Anyone want one? Just send me a note via the Contact link up above with your mailing info and you'll get a free signed copy! If you like it, tell your friends!

20 June 2015

Hey everyone! How's the reading going? Of my book, I mean. Oh, you missed the sale? Well, you can still get "The Consul's Daughter" for the low price of $2.99, and if you post a review on Amazon by July 1st, you'll still get a free signed copy of "Across the Sea"! So TWO BOOKS for $2.99! Come on, you know you spend more than that on coffee from Starbucks, or Coffee Bean, or wherever it is you like to go. For the price of a latte you can have hours of escapist entertainment!

OK enough with the hard sell. On May 1st we had to say goodbye to our oldest cat, Moritz. He was not really cat-like at all, and had such a great personality. He'll be sorely missed. Other than that sad affair, things have been pretty normal around here. My 37th birthday was passed in delightful fashion. We went to see Jurassic World in IMAX 3D. Pretty epic. After that we had dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, Va de Vi

How have you all been? Looking forward to summer? Or waiting for cold weather again?

15 April 2015

All right! Kindle users! From May 16 -- May 23, my first book "The Consul's Daughter" will be ON SALE for 99 CENTS!!!
The first ten people to post a review on Amazon after reading it will receive a FREE SIGNED COPY of my second book, "Across the Sea"! TWO BOOKS FOR 99 CENTS! It doesn't get better than this, people. You have until July 1st to get those reviews posted. Happy reading!!!

14 April 2015

OK! Been busy again...I won't bore you with details. Work crap.  But, things have calmed down now and I'm hoping to get my writing underway again. To that effect, I've just decided (thanks to some advice from my very smart mom) to do a BOOK GIVEAWAY!!!! The free book will be Across the Sea, my second historical fiction/romance novel. I'll be giving away TEN SIGNED COPIES. Keep your eyes peeled on this website, as well as my Facebook and Twitter for clues as to when and how this will all go down. Good luck to all!

30 Jan 2015

Happy New Year! Ok, I know I'm late with that. And I know I said this the last time but...it's been pretty busy around here. We took an epic road trip to Texas to visit family for Christmas, stopped for a couple nights in Vegas on the way back, decided to redo our guest bathroom,  and brought home a foster puppy. Just typing all that makes me tired.

On top of all that, we had to go back to work. And things there haven't exactly been rosy. Being stressed out about work and then coming home only to be stressed out over this foster puppy and an unfinished bathroom has been no fun. Hopefully, by this time next month, some of the work drama will be over and foster puppy will have a home of her own. For now she's got a few more days in the cone of shame before her spay stitches come out. It's been really hard keeping her separated from our dog, Bella, because all they want to do is play.

I'm ashamed to admit I've gotten nowhere with my third book. I'm stuck and I need to figure out how to get unstuck. Any advice?

7 Dec 2014

Well it's been pretty busy around here lately. Thankfully today was a day off and I've gotten a lot of housework done! Exciting, I know. Okay, here's something that's actually exciting: I have a REAL book cover for Across the Sea! My talented husband designed it for me and I'm in the process of updating my Kindle, Nook and Lulu versions as we speak. Or as I type...anyway, I'm pretty happy about it. It looks SO much better than that boring, plain cover I had to begin with. Go check it out!

25 Nov 2014

If people weren't running around their neighborhoods killing each other, the government wouldn't be there. If they weren't running around selling drugs and ruining lives, the government wouldn't be there. If people didn't vote for the enlargement of government over and over again, the government wouldn't be in their backyards.

And yes, the government is the same as the police. It's a state run business. You want less police presence? Less chance of a thing like what happened in Ferguson to happen elsewhere? Stop relying on the government for your very existence. Stop voting for it to keep getting bigger. Take responsibility for yourselves and stop the insane amount of violence you perpetrate on each other. Stop using situations like this as an excuse to loot and riot.

End rant.

30 Oct 2014

So...the fundraising has not been going well.  Meaning I've got $50 of the $375 I need to attend the Night of Writing Dangerously. Perhaps it's not meant to be, but if you can find it in your heart to support me, I'd greatly appreciate it! Just click HERE to donate. Thank you!

P.S. I set up our Christmas tree. Yes I did.

18 Oct 2014

Sorry it's been so long since I've mused...or had musings...but it's been a crazy few weeks here. My excitement for fall weather was quickly tempered by the near 100 degree weather we had (yes, you read that correctly) but I was not to be deterred. This morning I made PaleOMG's pumpkin waffles and they were awesome! I don't know why I haven't owned a waffle iron until now, but I've remedied that problem and my life is now complete.

I decided to sign up for NaNoWriMo...National Novel Writing Month! The challenge is to write 50,000 words during the month of November. If I am successful, my third book will be finished! How exciting is that?! I'm also fundraising for the Night of Writing Dangerously. I would really, really, really appreciate any and all support in the form of monetary donations. I only need $375 to get there, and the proceeds also support the Young Writers Program. So help me out! Please!

3 Oct 2014

I know I've already said this but...it's fall! It's fall! It's fall! Can you tell I'm excited?

Cooler weather, football, no need for air conditioning...I love it. Also, pumpkin everything. Pumpkin haters, I do not understand you. I saw a tweet yesterday that said, "Just because it's fall doesn't mean everything has to have pumpkin. Ugh."

I beg to differ. That's exactly what fall means!

26 Sept 2014

I'm being featured today! Well, my book is being featured. Check it out at http://www.christianebookstoday.com/the-consuls-daughter-by-c-lynn-biccum/

I've been enjoying some much needed time off, and getting some writing done as well! Also, it's fall. My favorite season. Admittedly in California fall is not the same as fall in the Midwest, but the temperatures are cooler and I'm getting ready to bust out the knee high boots. Yay!

19 Sept 2014

Travel. Lots of travel. I got home Monday night, worked Tuesday, was home sick in bed Wednesday, had a gig last night that I didn't get home from until 1 AM and today we're driving to Anaheim for gigs over the weekend. I should still be sleeping but Bella, our adorable dog, got up and started doing her excited puppy routine and I knew she was not going to settle down. Yes, she sleeps with us. She's the cutest dog on the planet (as you can see from the pics) and she snuggles up and sleeps through the night, despite not even being one year old. But when she decides to wake up, she's up.

In other news, I'm on Christian eBooks !!! Click on the link and you'll see my book on the right. Happy Friday!

11 Sept 2014

As I sit here in the quiet of the morning, remembering what happened on this day thirteen years ago, I can hardly believe it's been that long. I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when I watched the second plane hit on the news that morning. I went to work in a sort of fog, not really knowing what was happening, only to find out once I got there that the Pentagon had been hit. At that point I got back in my car and went home. All day I watched the coverage, not really believing what I was seeing. It was too surreal. I'll never forget that day, nor should anyone else. We all need to be thankful for what we have in this life while we have it. No one is guaranteed their tomorrow.

8 Sept 2014

I have to fly tomorrow. This is making me incessantly grumpy. I'm not usually a bitch about work but having to fly is really not fun. I haven't liked it for many years. The only plus side to being hurtled through the air in a pressurized tube is that I'll be visiting a place I've never been before: the great state of Washington. I hear it's beautiful.

7 Sept 2014

This is my first website! I've tried to incorporate things from other author websites that I like, but this will definitely be a work in progress. For today, I think I'll take a break from the writing and website building and watch some football. Anyone else excited that it's football season?!
